my creative process for the project began with masthead exploration.
after that, i chose a typeface for the masthead and sketched out a layout.
i created 3 covers, and chose the mexico city cover for the issue.

i learned how crucial structure and pacing are to building a strong editorial layout. balancing visuals with clear, readable text made me more intentional with every design choice. even small tweaks in alignment or typography had a big impact on tone and flow.
-
fitting pre-written content into a clean layout without losing clarity or hierarchy was a real challenge. finding a visual style that felt smart, modern, and still accessible to a mature audience took a lot of trial and refinement. staying consistent while keeping each spread fresh pushed my creative limits.

the final design feels polished, balanced, and true to alethia’s voice. i walked away with a sharper eye for editorial layout and a better understanding of how to lead a reader through a story using grid, type, and image. it also helped me grow more confident in designing for a specific audience.
